What it actually does

Numa answers dealership phones, texts missed callers, and books service into a live DMS. Voice AI (Operator) sits on the main line. Missed Call Recovery texts hang-ups. Smart Inbox holds calls, SMS, voicemail transcripts, email, and chat. It can book into CDK, Reynolds, Tekion, Xtime. LiveCSI watches OEM customer-satisfaction scores, not Google reviews. Human backup is the store’s BDC, not Numa employees. That is a real product for a service lane.

It is not a plumber tool. It is not a dentist tool. NumberAI started as generic missed-call text-back for local shops. In 2024 the CEO told WardsAuto they went all in on dealers after dealers became the biggest users by accident. The 2026 homepage is “The AI Operating System for Car Dealerships.” FAQ: built for franchise dealerships and multi-rooftop groups. They claim 1,300-plus rooftops. April 2026 they bought Ficus to push into dealer sales. That is deeper into auto, not into HVAC.

Who should buy it

Buy it if you run a franchise rooftop with a DMS and a service lane. Then get a demo, demand a live book on your scheduler, and call a same-DMS dealer. Do not treat the Capterra 5.0 as proof. Twelve reviews, almost all from 2020: Ace Hardware, a salon, restaurants, a campground, a chiropractor. One 2025 entertainment-company review. G2 is two reviews from 2020. Trustpilot: no numa.com page. BBB: no NumberAI profile. Reddit: nothing retrieved.

Do not buy it if you are a plumber, HVAC shop, dentist, salon, or law firm. Smith.ai, Goodcall, or Podium are the comparison set. HVAC directory pages that name ServiceTitan and Jobber are the wrong company. There is no ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, Calendly, Clio, or Dentrix connector on numa.com. Numa will not sell you the 2020 answering service Capterra is still describing.

The reason not to buy is simpler than the contract. They do not sell this to you.

The verdict

Pricing is custom. Demo form, no rate card. Ignore $49, $50, and $149. Those are stale SMB and directory leftovers. Capterra still prints $149 per user per month and “no hidden fees or contracts.” Competitor blogs guess $200 to $400 a rooftop or $500 to $1,500 a month. Unverified. Public terms (May 2026) default to monthly unless the order form locks a longer term, plus unpublished usage and non-recurring fees, 1.5 percent late interest, and you lose Numa-issued numbers unless you port before cancel. GM iMR dealers can get co-op money. That is not a plumber discount.
